Katie’s surgery went very well
Dear all, First, please don’t call Katie or send cards, it upsets her. Send an email if you wish. Thanks to each of you for your prayers, Katie’s surgery went very well. Dr Jones is very confident that he got “everything”. He said from what he could tell, the lymph nodes were also clear. We will do a follow up in about two weeks. We got home several hours ago, and Katie is doing very well. Of course, there is pain from where they spread the ribs apart to get to the lungs, but all else is super. Please keep up your prayers. We are so grateful. May God bless each of you. Peace, -- Jerry

Please keep Brad Billing's family in your prayers
Please keep Brad Billing's family in your prayers. Brad passed away in late January and his memorial service was held this past Saturday, February 13, at St. Clements Episcopal Church where John Hortum is the Rector. Many old time Cursillistas remember John when he was at various parishes in the Diocese. Brad had been in Group Reunion with me and 2 other Cursillistas on Saturday mornings for the past 20 plus years. I will greatly miss his humor and insights --Bob Giusti

Bonnie had a successful surgery from the facial area and she is home resting. The doctor took out 2 dozen plus tumors, then stopped counting. The biopsy results are due back in about a week (and they will then have a full count on the number of tumors). Little weakness in mouth area, which is expected to come back in 4-6 months, but ears, eyes, lips and all other facial area are fine. -- Jack Finnerty

Prayers for Bob Wear's father
My dear friends and family, Once again it’s time to really crank up the prayers for my dad as he preps for major surgery! The ultimate diagnosis of all this is that the kidney needs to be removed. He is 87 years old, and they will be putting him all the way out for this operation. The operation is this Tuesday (16 FEB), and it should last at least 4-5 hours. My parent’s pastor is going to do an anointing this weekend after Mass. I’d appreciate your prayers for him. Thanks. -- Bob Wear

Update on Katie John
Dear friends in Christ, First, to all who have been praying for her and who have responded so by email, thank you so much. Forgive me for not responding sooner. But I wanted to wait for more complete information.
Yes, she has a new form of cancer – basically a slow growing, surface cancer on the right upper lobe of her lung. We had the pre-op tests, etc yesterday, and surgery for its removal is scheduled for February 22nd at the UVA hospital. They are very good. She will be in the hospital for about five days so I will be out of touch except by my cell phone. If you wish to communicate, please do it by email as Katie gets upset when we/she gets phone calls about the situation. Please don’t discuss it with her. Please keep her us in your prayers. Peace and love, -- Jerry John

Prayers for Bonnie
Please pray for Bonnie, who will have serious surgery at Georgetown Hospital on her facial area on Feb 9th. There are 5 or 6 tumors, one the size of a baseball, that have been growing, perhaps for up to 20 years, but have been noticeable to Bonnie for nine or ten years. She pressured her doctors for the necessary needle biopsies, the MRIs and the CAT scans that have all led to this diagnosis. -- Jack Finnerty
Pray does work!!
Hi Everyone, I am happy to report that Gary is doing better and is at home. His medications were adjusted and he'll be checked on again early this week. Fortunately, the event was not a stroke, as was suspected, but a TIA. Unfortunately, his blood pressure is still running high. Our daughter is grateful for all your prayers and said as she was sitting in the emergency room a sudden sense of calm and peace came over her allaying her fears. Prayer is powerful. Please continue to hold both Gary and Laura in your prayers that this medical issue and the other responsibilities of caring for his elderly parents will be resolved with God's perfect solution. God's Blessings to each and every one of you! -- Jo Ann
