Update on Katie John

Dear friends, one and all, I am so pleased to tell you that I brought Katie home this afternoon. She is doing well. Her spirits are up and she is getting around quite well. I want to thank each and all of you for your deep and continued prayers. It is beyond a doubt that God heard all of our prayers, for it is written, “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there, I will be with you.” I can count at least four events which are beyond the realm of normal happenings. I call them miracles. May God be Praised. Thanks so much and Peace to all, -- Jerry John

Update on Bristow Nuns

Received email from Sr. Tricia Kirk with news from Sr. Cecilia with good news: Sr. Charlotte Lange is now out of the trauma unit, moved to intermediate care.. She is "talking up a storm" and was able to stand up for the PT person. Will have some sort of knee surgery this week. Lots of smiles. Sr. Connie is conscious and recognizing people, but in great pain...broken legs and back, etc. She's responding to voices and is pretty stable, though she is not yet moving. Sounds like some miracles are happening. Let’s give thanks and keep up the prayers!!! -- Mimi Fitzgerald

Update on the two Bristow sisters

Sister Tricia Kirk of the Baltimore Benedictines sends us this update on the two Bristow sisters after spending yesterday with Sister Cecilia, the Prioress at Bristow. Thank you all for your prayers for us and more so for the Bristow Sisters. The 2 Sisters are now on trachs but seem to be still unconscious. Sr. Charlotte moved her toe last night which was a good sign. She is the one on cumadin and her errythmia seems better. She had colon damage and had part of her intestines removed. Her body is swollen particularly her head. Both Srs are still in the Trauma unit and critical.
Sr. Connie is the one with diabetes and has mostly bone structure damage, including broken vertebrae in her back, two broken legs and her wrist is broken.
Sr.Cecilia's homily from Sr.Denise's funeral is on their website Benedictine Sisters of Virginia. You also might want to read the article in the Arlington Herald.
So, continue to pray as this will be for the long haul for the Srs and the community. But they are great in supporting one another and know that lots of people are supporting them which is how they are getting through this. They count on our prayers. -- Peace, Tricia

Prayers and Thanks from Jerry John

To each and all of you. Sorry that I haven’t responded sooner, but I have been a little busy. My most heartfelt thanks for all of your prayers and support. Katie has been moved to Woodstock Shenandoah Memorial Hospital last Thursday and it is only ½ mile from the house. A gift to me. God has heard all of your prayers for he has responded in many ways. She is in rehab, getting many new body exercises and she is responding very well. She has learned to get up from a sitting position, can get out of bed to the walker and she is waking more and more each day. Her spirits are up and she is determined to get well. She will be on the pic line for the antibiotics for another five weeks, and that too seems to be working on the back pain as well as on the rest of the body. Oh how I thank God for his every blessing. Thank each of you for all of your prayers, please continue, and I will keep you in mine. Peace, -- Jerry John

Prayers for Jeri & Bill Forster

Jeri Forster will be returning home from Fairfax Nursing Center on Wednesday, August 11 (time is yet to be resolved). In addition to the stroke, terminal cancer, and lingering shingles she has picked up pneumonia over the past weekend. She will have 24/7 nursing care for the first week and will be under Hospice supervision. Many thanks for all of your cards, prayers and good wishes. Please continue your prayers for Jeri and Bill. -- Bill Forster

Katie John Update

Dear all, First, I want to thank each and all of you for your prayers. Jesus said, where two or more of you gather together, know that I am with you. Indeed, God has been with us.
The doctors at Winchester Medical Center, where Katie has been since Wednesday, had not been able to get the culture to grow so they could identify the “bug”. This morning, I went back to Jesus and said, “Thank you for have already done, but I know that you have power over all things, please Lord make that bug grow”. Guess what, this afternoon, the culture had come alive and they have identified the bacteria, Streptococcus-mitis, and now they have the correct antibiotic for that bug. Katie is doing better. She is awake and alert, much of the pain is gone and she looks ten times better than yesterday. She will be on this antibiotic for 6 weeks and it is administered in the vein so Medicare wants her in a “Medical” facility while we want her at home. Don’t know where that will go. But, first, she will go to a Rehab facility for about two weeks to rebuild up the muscles in her back. Please keep her in your prayers.
May God bless each of you for your prayers. -- Jerry John
