Ken Telesca asks: 1. son-in-law father and 2. me

1. Russell's, (i.e. my son-in-law) father (Gary Ramey) has been in and out of the hospital since Labor Day weekend, beginning with surgery for correcting an aortic aneurism near his kidneys, followed by treatment to restart his kidneys, which did not work. He now undergoes daily dialysis. To complicate matters he developed a pilonidal cyst (it was removed) from being on a bed without exercise. He has no appetite and lost almost 100 pounds, down from being a robust six foot three 250 pound guy. Russell and his brothers think their Dad should be discharged to a rehab facility instead of going home because his care needs are significantly greater than his mother can handle; however, Mrs. Ramey wants to honor her husband's wish to get out of the hospital.

2. About a month ago I had a memory loss about something Peg thought I should have clearly known. She called my neurologist who ordered me to the ER. The ER gave me a TGA diagnosis (Transient global amensia), which my doctor has followed-up with an EEG to rule out seizure. In the meantime I'm prohibited from driving (Virginia law requires one to be seizure free for six months in order to drive a car). The EEG was done 12 days ago, and tomorrow (2/28) I have an appointment at noon with my neurologist to learn the outcome of the brain functioning test. I'm praying that the doc can rule out seizure and that this is God's will. FYI: recent MRI on 1/13/11 showed no changes in brain structure since previous scan in June 2010.
